Manitoba Mountain Bike Association | -Kari tried three times to arrange a “meet and greet” date with the MTRC Board (and their horses) and the MB Mountain Bike Association Board. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions all three dates had to be cancelled. -Dave, the president of the MB Mountain Bike Association, is very open to working with MTRC to foster a positive relationship between cyclists and riders. -Kari has arranged a “meet and greet” with the cycling club Monday, July 5 at 6 p.m.. The meeting location will be at the Nimowin sandpits. MTRC Board members who can attend, will bring their horses so that the MB Mountain Bike Association Board can meet riders and horses and learn more about how to safely share the trails and cycle around horses. This will be a great opportunity to share information, ideas and concerns. | Kari
Grosse Isle Ride | -Linda is looking forward to hosting this rideon Saturday, July 24 and has been busy getting new trails ready. She is including 2 miles of trails in sand hills as well as some trails in treed areas. There may be some vehicular traffic near the trails passing the dump area. Linda suggested that in the future we might want to hold the ride on a Sunday as the dump is closed that day. -Linda will pick up the equipment trailer prior to the ride so that she has everything she needs to set up the ride. -Riders are asked to let Linda know if the plan to camp at the ride site Friday night. -Carla said that the company she works for, Wood Wyant will donate sanitizing supplies if they are needed for the ride. Sanitizer has an expiration date so that will need to be checked. -Linda was talking with Neil Versavel and he confirmed that he will vet Linda’s ride. -Linda will send Kari the ride map when the trails are set so that Kari can post them. -Carla volunteered he sister Debbie to act as scribe. -Mary is Day manager and Rollie will look after parking and Covid protocols -Entires will open July 5th. Riders need to preregister as they did last year. Kari will promote the ride by sending an email to MTRC members and interested riders with ride info. She’ll also post the ride info on Facebook so that people, have all of the ride information needed as well as what Covid rules to expect e.g. wear a mask at vet checks, socially distance, no mask needed while riding, etc. -Policy discussion related to the impact of hot, hot temperatures: Do we need to have a policy stating that a ride will be cancelled or shortened at a certain temperature or do we have the ride vet and Ride manager determine if mileage needs to reduced? We will continue discussion with MTRC members to determine what kind of a policy is needed. | Linda Carla Linda, Kari Carla Mary Rollie Kari
