Grey Cup Fundraiser And 2023 Fundraiser Ideas | The 2022 Grey Cup Fundraiser made a profit of $1,231.00. This has been a very successful fundraiser so the club will run this again this fall. The organizer will be determined at a later date. The idea of an afternoon mini clinic, BBQ and charity fundraiser Night Ride was discussed. A possible date is June 3, with the location possibly being the Polo Club parking area at Birds Hill Park. Funds raised would be donated to a yet to be determined equine charity such as Urban Stables or a horse rescue. Brenda will contact the Polo Club to see if we may use their space for parking and a BBQ. Terry will contact Darice to see about contacting BHP re what is required to run a clinic, BBQ, and a 5 mile loop evening ride. Kari will contact Sobey’s re a donation of food for the BBQ. | Brenda Terry Kari |
Council of Clubs Update | Iris attended the Council of Clubs and reported on some of the information shared at that meeting. The Polo Club is planning activities to celebrate their 50th Anniversary this year. Team Penning has 27 new members this year. The Quarter Horse Club is planning a Western Ride Night at Birds Hill Park. Manitoba Horse Council would like each club to provide a one minute video about our club. We will look for a volunteer to do some videoing at a ride. MHC suggested that we volunteer for a different club to get a sense of what is going on in other clubs. There was also discussion about Respect in Sport, the 50/50 raffle, and a need to nominate a Horse of the Year and Athlete of the Year.
Zoho Form and Event Posting | Brenda will take Covid requirements off of the registration form and add Coggins requirement for the spring of 2023. The email that goes to riders who have registered has all the information needed and nothing needs to be added at this time. Brenda will look at the possibility of posting an Event page on Facebook the way DRM does. Iris suggested adding more information about rides on the MTRC website. People who are not on Facebook can contact Kari to be added to our email list or join the club and be added to MTRC Facebook page. | Brenda |
Zoho Procedure | Kari asked Brenda to document what she does when she’s working on Zoho this year so that a manual can be created for whoever is next taking over the Zoho role. | Brenda |
Coggins 2023 | A Coggins Test will be required for MTRC riders until the Tabanid season is over in the fall.
Membership Promo | Kari will discuss developing the promo pamphlet with Carla. There was a discussion about what the possible barriers are for potential MTRC members. Lack of a trailer certainly is one barrier but some determined and creative riders manage to overcome this. Inviting people to join the MTRC Facebook page and sharing a promo pamphlet can help raise awareness. | Kari |
Sponsorships | Kari has sent club members a template for a letter that can be used to request sponsorships. Members are encouraged to send this letter to people or organizations that they think might be interested.
Next Meeting | The next MTRC meeting will be Wednesday, February 15 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom |
Motion to adjourn: Moved by Kari, seconded by Terry, carried.
