2018-09-09  Sandilands ride results are posted. Janine writes about the ride::
I just want to thank everyone who showed up to compete at Sandilands on Saturday despite the weather it was still a good day! Also a huge thank you to the vet Dr Kristen Wilson who at the last minute agreed to vet the ride, she was thorough and wonderful to work with! Thank you to Wendy Carnegie for managing so I could ride, Carol Gibson for timing and the others who helped out Angela Swanson, Linda Cruden Angela Roberts, hope I didn’t miss anyone.  Big thank you to Chris Fredrickson for helping me check some trail, even though I still managed to short change the distance and Diane Tolgyessy for helping me mark it.  I hope I didn’t forget anyone but you are all appreciated!
    Thanks Janine
And than YOU, Janine, for putting the ride on

2018-06-21 Results of the June 16 Birds Hill Ride are  posted

2018-05-09 For all who participated - thanks and for those who missed - read it and weep :-)  Here’s Iris’s wrap-up of  “MTRC Birds Hill Park May5,2018
Many, many thanks to everyone who made this ride happen.  After finding out that we couldn’t use Belair I thought we were done for May 5.  However with Brenda Tolpa able to acquire the permit for BHP and with Darice, Shannon and Terry marking trail we were off to the races.  It  was a perfect day for a ride-no rain, little wind and not too hot.
We had awesome volunteers who made the ride go without a hitch.  Natalie, Hailie, Carol and Mary Anne kept the ride running smoothly.  This was no easy feat with 30 riders.
Glenn Sinclair earned his keep vetting 30 horses several times.  Thanks so much
Also, thanks to all of you who made really short work of setting up the canopy, tables and registration. All of the quick work was greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much to Linda Cruden, Rhianna, Angela, Carol, Natalie, Hailie, Mary Anne and others that I probably missed.
Here is a quick summary:  Training ride we had 1 junior and 13 regular riders.
Novice we had 3 juniors and 9 regular riders.  Open we had 4 riders.
We had 4 new riders in the Training ride, including 2 men!
In Novice, we had 2 new juniors as well as several that hadn’t ridden MTRC for some time.
For actual results for everyone as well as marking and demarking trail, I have sent the spreadsheet to Emil for the webpage.
If I missed anything please email me or text me and I will fix it.
    Iris”
       And thank you, Iris!

Note: MTRC will require all equines attending 2018 season events to possess a valid negative test certificate for Equine Infectious Amenia (EIA) --- Commonly referred to as a negative Coggins test.

  • 2018-04-06 The club received a nice Thank You letter from Myna Cryderman for the donation to Souris trails. Click to see the full letter. She plans another benefit ride for the trails on July 6 & 7th - not sure if it is in addition to their July endurance ride  (see our newsletter), or not but here will be 5/10/15 mile trails marked so it should appeal to all levels of riders.

To all  PROSPECTIVE NEW RIDERS - if  you are new to the sport and unsure of yourself, do come out to ride with us anyway! We will match you up with a mentor, someone with experience in competitive rides. You can also e-mail us beforehand.
Another great way to learn is to volunteer to help with a ride - next time come to ride, and ace it!
Preregistrations: In order for a ride to be held there must be a minimum of 6 preregistered, prepaid riders.  In order for the 40 to be held we must have 2 prepaid, preregistered riders

Anyone wishing to pre-pay  can send their payment to MaryAnn Kirk at 838 Alfred Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2X 0T6.  She must receive it a week before the ride, or it can be dropped of at anyone of the executive at least  1 week before the ride.  In order for the 40 mile to be held there must  be at least 2 preregistered riders. It is now possible to use e-transfers. The money needs to be sent to Mary Anne, her e-mail is yaknow3@hotmail.com .  Follow the instructions on your  bank's website. Depending on your institution, there may be a charge for the transfer, but on the other hand, you will save on postage (and possibly on cheque charge). Do not send your entry form electronically, just the money. Bring the form along with you to the ride.

Getting ready for the next riding season? Iris has prepared several useful checklists of gear that you may wish to not forget taking along. Look for it on the Useful Info page.
